In a network managed by Network Director, three separate repositories about device configuration are maintained: Usually the JunOS space will auto-synchronize the JunOS Space configuration database with device configuration. Juniper call it out-of-band commit since it happens at device itself, not from JunOS Space. To those security administrator who like command line, they will still prefer to use command line to change certain things such as host name, routes, system configuration etc. But I wasn't impressed either.Junos Space is a comprehensive network management solution that simplifies and automates management of Juniper’s switching, routing, and security devices. Though less disruptive than the popup window, this still seems unnecessary.įinally, the setup was difficult on a Linux OS. Sure, I can disconnect the session before switching to something else on my computer, but it is annoying to have to remember to do this every time (and it forces me to log back in later).Ī related issue is that when the session times out and no user input has been detected for several minutes, the login window refreshes and the process repeats ad infinitum. However, there does not seem to be such a feature. This problem has an easy solution: give an option to suppress the timeout notification. In certain fast-paced action games, this can completely ruin my game session. But the worst is when I am playing a video games on my PC, and the notification pops up and obscures my view. This is annoying and unnecessary in any case. When the session is 5 minutes from timing out, a window pops up _on top_ of whatever other window I may have open at the time. There is one extremely annoying aspect of the software. The above reasons are enough to give it 4 stars, maybe 3.75 if I could be more precise. The simple interface will be an important feature for users like myself, i.e., employees who only care about establishing a stable network connection and getting their work done, without need for advanced functionality. Once it is set up, it has a simple interface and is easy to use (though the setup may be confusing on Linux see below). I haven't had issues with network connectivity or basic functionality. This software does what it's supposed to do. The -1.25 stars are mostly for its obtrusiveness when user sessions time out, and to a lesser degree because of its difficult setup on Linux (Windows setup was fine though). The 3.75 stars are for the fact that it does what it's supposed to and is reasonably simple. Having to use a VPN at all is annoying (even if it is necessary), and I only care about getting it up and running so I can forget about it.
I mostly care about getting connected and getting my work done.
